Abundance is an internal practice, not an external state
Thanksgiving is often considered a time to count our blessings. Does that mean that we save it up for this special day? I’ve been trying to start and end my day with gratitude – sometimes by sending a note of appreciation for an act of kindness, sometimes by telling someone that I’m glad they are in my life, sometimes by silently reciting what I’m thankful for during my morning meditations.
Choosing abundance over scarcity is completely in our own power. During times of stress, it’s easy to find ourselves in an unintended state of scarcity, depleted of energy or frustrated by an event or situation. It is especially during these moments that we have to slow down time, enough so that we can find what fills us up, our intention, and make the choice of abundance.
Abundance is not how much money we have in the bank account. Abundance is how much energy we bring to every moment of our lives. Sometimes it is how much patience we bring to each relationship. It is how we enliven each moment with what is uniquely ourselves, and enrich others with ourselves. As such, abundance is an internal practice, and something to be practiced every day.
These small acts of thanksgiving matter every day, and they enable us to live in immeasurable abundance.
